About Coach

Hayden Fox, the head football coach of Minnesota University, is the star of Coach. Spanning nine seasons, Fox is the head coach for the first seven seasons before being offered a job with the fictional NFL team the Orlando Breakers. During his time at Minnesota University, we see Fox deal with the responsibilities of being an inexperienced university football coach, while dealing with the pressure of his girlfriend Christine’s job as an anchorwoman. By gaining years of experience Fox is eventually offered the head coaching job in Orlando. The series ends with Fox not only juggling his new career but also parenthood as he and Chirstine adopt a baby boy.

Coach's Relation To Sport Business

Coach gives a great behind the scenes look into university-level athletics. For starters, we learn more about the balancing act the athletes must do in order to work hard both on the field and in school. In fact, assistant coach, Michael "Dauber" Dybinski, was once a student of Minnesota University and graduated with three degrees, most likely because he never wanted to leave school. We also go on the journey with Hayden Fox from just starting out as a head coach, all the way to achieving his dream of becoming an NFL coach. Throughout the series, Fox has to face many challenges not only in his personal life but also in his career. From managing his relationships with his players and coworkers to keeping the team successful, Coach gives us great insight into how much work it takes to be in Hayden Foxes position.

Why watch Coach?

If you like comedy shows and sports, Coach is the perfect series for you! Although it may be several seasons long, the overall premise is not difficult to understand. Even if you watch the episodes in a random order, you’ll still be able to follow along and be entertained. One thing to note is that the series did run from 1989 to 1997, so the camera quality can’t compare to shows from today. However, if you like to watch older tv shows (like myself) Coach provides a high level of solid sports entertainment!
