The SnaP: Commonwealth Sport Canada with CEO Brian MacPherson

The Commonwealth

Episode 22

Brian MacPherson

CEO

Commonwealth Sport Canada

Welcome to the twenty-second episode of The SnaP, a SPort MAnagement (SPMA) Hub digital show, featuring voices from the sport industry.

Brian MacPherson is the CEO of Commonwealth Sport Canada and a leader in the non-profit sports organization world.

He joins us to talk about his role and the impact COVID-19 had on Commonwealth Sport. Since the Games are not set to take place until 2022, the impact has not been devastating, but still quite a challenge to deal with.

Brian talked about gaining sponsors and he explained the difference between sponsorship and fundraising. We discussed what really sets Canada apart in the sports industry. Brian brought up an interesting point when he mentioned how Canada is winning medals despite not putting in as much money in sports as other countries.

Brian is extremely proud to work in sports in Canada, and his motto is to ADD VALUE and CHANGE LIVES! To end off, he shared with us an amazing story about a moment that really stands out to him and is the epitome of what sport is really about.
