- These questions are designed with the interviewee's career in mind; and not intended to elicit inspirational responses.
- Avoid confusing these with career advice questions (insight).

Wildcard questions
- Wildcard questions are chosen from either the career advice or employer resources sections.
- However, you may choose to do your industry profile interview on a specific theme within either career advice or employer resources.
- If you choose a theme based in career advice or employer resource, your Wildcard question must be in the opposite section. For example, if your theme is resumes and cover letters (career advice), your Wildcard must come from employer resources.
- If your post is geared for the Player Side of Sport, you still must include a wildcard question. Be sure to choose a question that is applicable to the role on the player side of sport. Typically, it is not practical to ask an athlete for resume tips. If you are unsure, consult with those that manage and coordinate PSS.
Asking Questions
- Step 1 Thoroughly research and target your interviewee. When you reached out to your interviewee, you determined whether you want the focus of the interview to be either 1 career-based, 2 role-based, or 3 insight-based.
- Step 2 Decide on a key theme they might be addressing about either their role, career, or industry insight. Ensure a strong understanding of the content we offer to determine where their answers will go. See: Players, Jobs and SPMA.
- Step 3 Choose questions that reflect the theme chosen. This is so important. Ensure at least 80% of your questions can elicit thorough answers that match your theme. It often helps to brainstorm possible titles for your article at this stage to ensure fit with the questions chosen. You must always select one Wildcard question.
- Step 4 Send questions to the interviewee in the most updated question document.
- Step 5 When you get them back, choose quote that best exemplifies the theme. If the answers don't match the theme, consider asking extra questions.
- Step 6 Create a concise title that reflects theme, responses and the purpose when submitting your piece.
