Build work that demonstrates the skill, even if nobody hired you to create it. A marketing portfolio could include a campaign brief, sample content calendar, sponsorship activation idea and post-campaign measurement plan. An analytics portfolio could answer a real business question using public data. A media portfolio could include writing, editing, short-form video or an interview package. Clearly label speculative work as a self-directed project so nobody mistakes it for client work. The goal is to show how you think, how you execute and how you evaluate the result, not to pretend you already have a professional-team logo on your resume.
