Chief Executive Officer

Shooting Federation of Canada

Flexible; office currently in Ottawa, Ontario, with flexible work and telework arrangements Full-time employee

The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board of Directors through the Chair and provides overall leadership and direction of the Shooting Federation of Canada’s operations and responsibilities to funding and sport partners. The CEO represents SFC with members, government, external stakeholders and partners; supports the Board and its councils and committees; develops and implements strategic, financial, operating, human-resources and risk-management plans; oversees programs, projects, services, policies, compliance and governance; develops revenue, sponsorship and funding sources; manages relationships with Sport Canada, Own the Podium, the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Canadian Sport Centres/Institutes and other organizations; leads high-performance, sport-development, athlete, coach and official pathways; promotes safe sport, diversity and inclusion; leads marketing, branding and events; recruits, develops and retains staff; oversees stakeholder engagement and communications; and acts as an official spokesperson. Required or desired qualifications include a university undergraduate degree or equivalent experience; at least seven years of relevant recent experience, including two to three years of management and leadership experience; experience with not-for-profit governance and volunteer boards; knowledge of sport organizations and Sport Canada or equivalent systems; high-performance or sport-development program experience; revenue-generation, sponsorship and funding experience; stakeholder, operational, budget, people-leadership and risk-management experience; strong communication, relationship-building, strategic, financial and political skills; English fluency; French proficiency as an asset; Microsoft Office, social-media and financial-management-tool experience; and eligibility to work in Canada. The initial priorities include stakeholder and Board relationships, governance improvement, financial and revenue management, organizational assessment, high-performance planning, sport-development expansion and SFC brand and website improvements. The position involves local, occasional national and international travel and supervision of approximately two full-time and two part-time staff.
