How do you move from ticket sales into sports marketing without starting over?

I am building solid sales experience but my long-term interest is marketing. What skills or projects should I try to add now so the transition looks logical instead of unrelated?

SPMA provides a practical starting answer. Add first-hand experience, a different perspective or a useful example from the industry.

Use the sales role to collect customer insight. Volunteer for campaigns, theme nights, lead-generation projects or CRM initiatives where sales and marketing overlap. Then you can show that you understand revenue and audience behaviour, not just that you want a different department.

I would also build a small portfolio outside your normal sales duties. A campaign concept, email test, audience segmentation example or event promotion gives a marketing hiring manager evidence that you have already started doing the work.
