Partnership sales is primarily about creating new commercial relationships: prospecting, understanding a brand’s objectives, building proposals, negotiating rights and closing business. Activation or account management focuses more on delivering the partnership after the deal is signed: coordinating assets, campaigns, hospitality, content, events, reporting and renewals. Both require communication and commercial awareness. Sales tends to reward comfort with outreach, ambiguity and negotiation, while activation rewards project management, detail and stakeholder coordination. Many careers cross between the two, so learning the full partnership lifecycle is useful regardless of where you start.
