If your business-side experience is in one bat-and-ball sport, will employers in the other generally see it as relevant?

Business-side experience can transfer very well because many functions are not sport-specific: events, ticketing, partnerships, marketing, communications, community programs and operations. The key is showing the underlying responsibility and then learning the new organization’s audience, calendar and competitive structure. On the player side, the technical differences matter more, so you should not overstate equivalence in scouting or coaching. For business roles, a candidate who has already worked through a season, supported events and managed stakeholders in one sport can often bring useful context to the other.
