
Manager, Business Development
About the Role
- Badminton Canada governs the sport nationwide, supporting athletes to Olympic/Paralympic levels and engaging 1.5M players.
- Manager, Business Development drives revenue growth via ticketing, sponsorships, corporate partnerships, and new revenue streams.
- Key duties include:
- Develop/execute ticket sales strategies, pricing, promotions, and VIP programs.
- Lead sponsorship sales from prospecting to contract execution, creating packages and managing relationships.
- Identify and launch new revenue opportunities (membership, e‑commerce, licensing, fundraising).
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with corporations, community groups, and government.
- Plan, budget, forecast and report on business development performance metrics.
- Support marketing campaigns, create sales collateral, and ensure brand consistency.
- Success measured by achieving ticket and sponsorship revenue targets, growing the sponsor portfolio, diversifying income, and delivering strategic growth initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sport Management, Commerce, Communications, or a related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated success achieving and exceeding revenue targets through experience in business development, sponsorship sales, ticket sales, partnership management, or a related role is considered an asset.
- Experience in sport, entertainment, events, or not-for-profit organizations is considered an asset.
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements and sponsorship contracts.

- Strong sales and business development expertise.
- Experience developing sponsorship proposals and presentations.
- Knowledge of ticketing systems and event revenue strategies.
- Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong financial and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in M365 applications.
- Proficiency in English and French is considered an asset.
