Miami, Miami, Miami

We looked for a place eat when we landed in Miami. We found the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel. This hotel saved us from our hunger, just like the nearby Timmies does when you are staving in class.

Fast forward to today

Reports surface that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Conor McGregor is arrested at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel.

What happened?

Here’s what we know thanks to reporting by the Miami Herald (courtesy of the New York Post):
1. An incident between McGregor and a male civilian took place at 5 AM this morning at the aforementioned hotel
2. The male fan takes a photo of the UFC star.
3. McGregor slaps the fan’s phone out of his hand and stomped on it, severely damaging it.
4. McGregor is then arrested and officially charged with strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief.
5. Video footage of the incident exists and is currently under review.

Video footage from TMZ

Here’s footage of the incident:

This incident had me thinking… this could have been me just a few weeks ago! Did the fan provoke McGregor? Did McGregor ask the fan not to take a photo? Was McGregor intoxicated, under the influence or purely exhausted? Regardless of the circumstances, he was criminally charged for the second time within a year for an outburst.

Has McGregor gone crazy?

Would you have taken a photo of McGregor?

I would have taken a photo of him. The allure of seeing a celebrity is intangible, a feeling that’s hard to explain. Telling your friends, family and acquaintances that you saw a celebrity makes you feel empowered.

Have you ever taken a photo of a celebrity?

I try to hide my camera when I snap photos of celebrities. However, I am apparently “obvious about it” according to those I am with. Likewise, in Miami for a few weeks ago, we bumped into several celebrities including legendary 60 Minutes journalist Lesley Stahl, Shark Tank judge Lori Greiner and ATP (Tennis) Men’s Top 100 tennis star Marius Copil. I may or may not have snapped a photo of them ????‍?????. Luckily, if I did, they didn’t snap on me
