How important are CRM skills for business-side sports jobs?

I keep seeing Salesforce and other CRM systems in ticketing, partnerships and fan development postings. How much should an entry-level candidate know?

You do not need to be a system administrator for most entry-level roles, but understanding the purpose of a CRM is valuable. You should know how organizations use it to track relationships, activities, pipeline, customer history, segmentation and follow-up. If you can access a training environment, learn basic record management, reporting and data hygiene. The larger lesson is process discipline: accurate notes, clear next steps and consistent data make sales and service teams more effective. If a posting names a specific platform, familiarity helps, but demonstrating that you understand the underlying workflow is often more important than memorizing one interface.
