Ask how compensation actually works at different performance levels. Understand the base salary, quota, commission rate, when commission is paid, whether there are accelerators, how renewals are treated and what happens if territories or products change. Also ask about lead sources, expected activity, training, typical ramp time, CRM usage and what percentage of the current team is meeting quota. The purpose is not to interrogate the employer; it is to understand the job you are accepting. A well-run sales program should be able to explain how success is measured and how new representatives are supported while they learn.
