About the Role

Volleyball Canada (VC) is a not-for-profit organization that provides leadership and oversees the development of Volleyball in Canada. It is a fast-paced environment that during peak periods provides multiple and simultaneous deadlines/timelines. The world cup coordinator will help support the operations and planning of the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Cup hosted in Montreal.

FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Cup 2027 (WVWC27)

The 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Cup will take place from August 20 to September 5, 2027. In Montréal, matches will be held from August 20 to 29, 2027.

The tournament will be staged across five cities in the United States and Canada. The group stage will feature eight groups of four teams. A total of 16 teams will advance to the knockout rounds, culminating in the final in Anaheim, where the world champion will be crowned.

Volleyball Canada is a key partner in delivering the matches hosted in Canada. The organization will work closely with the World Cup organizing committee to ensure the two Canadian host cities deliver a successful event from a sport, operational and event-experience perspective.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Partner and Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary local point of contact in Montreal for partners involved in the event:
  • Volleyball Canada, Volleyball Québec, Volleyball Montréal, FIVB-Volleyball World, Tourisme Montréal, host cities, the Bell Centre and suppliers;
  • Support coordination of partnership agreements with organizations supporting the event’s promotion and outreach:
  • Volleyball clubs, RSEQ, school service centres, CEGEPs, universities, day camps, volleyball leagues, etc.;
  • Support coordination with institutional partners and government bodies;
  • Monitor and follow up on commitments made to stakeholders.
  1. Event Operations Coordination
  • Monitor event preparation timelines;
  • Coordinate assigned projects and ensure deliverables are completed as required;
  • Identify operational risks and recommend appropriate solutions;
  • Track and follow up on decisions made during planning meetings.
  1. Logistics Coordination
  • Lead the coordination of accommodation, transportation, accreditation, and Team Services areas;
  • Coordinate follow-up with suppliers and service providers for Team Services;
  • Contribute to the development of operational plans.
  • Contribute to the local planning, coordination and execution for the FanFest and other local legacy activities
  • Support operational planning at competition & training venues as required;
  1. VIP, Sponsor and Government Fulfillment
  • Serve as the local point of contact for VIP and Sponsorship deliverables
  • Ensure all sponsorship deliverables are met, including activations required on site at FanFest and inside competition venue.
  • Manage VIP ticket requests, including working with Bell Centre ticketing operations to ensure tickets are sent to VIPs
  • Ensure government funder fulfillment in accordance with government agreements
  1. Volunteer and Event Workforce Management
  • Support volunteer workforce planning;
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment, training and assignments;
  • Support functional-area leads in preparing their teams;
  • Contribute to the development of volunteer resources and tools.
  1. Project Administration
  • Provide administrative oversight and follow-up for assigned projects;
  • Prepare meeting minutes and summaries;
  • Prepare reports for management and partners;
  • Contribute to reporting requirements related to grants and funding.
  1. Strategic Relations
  • Identify political, strategic and organizational issues that may affect the project and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies;
  • Participate in strategic meetings and follow up on decisions and commitments;
  • Support management in maintaining relationships with government, municipal, sport and institutional partners;
  • Perform other related duties that contribute to the success of the event.

Qualifications/Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sport management, business administration, recreation, project management, tourism, event management or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in project coordination or major sport event management.
  • Experience organizing sporting events is a strong asset.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or managing partners is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership and initiative.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple partners simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills, required to interact with members of the organizing committee, the FIVB, Volleyball Canada and various international partners.
  • Valid driver’s licence and availability for frequent travel.
  • Must reside in the Greater Montréal area.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $50K-64K annually dependent on skills and qualifications within range.
