At just 14 years old he's already becoming noticed and is even recruited to an NCAA prep school. But it isn't going to be a walk through the park for him. Between his team not accepting him and making his life difficult and the corruption behind amateur sport, not to mention his home life, things are going to be very difficult in his quest to fulfill his dreams of playing in the NBA. Amateur takes a look at what goes on in the amateur side of sport, more specifically in the recruitment of athletes. Terron Forte is a talented young athlete who is recruited to an elite NCAA prep school. To him, it's a dream come true. But behind the scenes, we see the business aspect that treats him as a product. It's clear he's going to be an amazing player, so the competition is on to make sure whoever is involved can make a lot of money off of him. It's a side of sport we don't get to see often and this movie shows it well.
