Released in 2015, Ferrell Takes the Field takes viewers on Will Ferrell's short lived baseball career. Taking place during Spring Training of 2015, Ferrell managed a feat of playing 10 positions for 10 different MLB teams in a single day. Kicking off his day by being signed by the Oakland A's as an undrafted amateur free agent, Ferrell's last trade found him joining the San Diego Padres. His most notable trade saw him going to the Chicago Cubs from the LA Angels for a washing machine, making reference to Ferrell's 2008 movie, Semi-Pro.  

What initially inspired Ferrell to take on this adventure wasn't his love for the game or to make a funny movie, but his desire to help others. The main focus was to raise donations and increase awareness for a non-profit foundation called, Cancer for College, which provides scholarships to cancer survivors.The organization was created in 1994 by Craig Pollard, a former college player who's MLB's dreams ended when he was diagnosed with cancer. In total just over $1 million dollars was raised by the end of the fundraiser.

Despite playing a multitude of sports in high school and being a seemingly great athlete growing up, Will Ferrell bites off more than he can chew when he tries his hand at playing professional baseball for the day.

His first few games are uneventful until he becomes a LA Angel and is able to help his team out. In his short MLB career Ferrell is documented in a way that gives a behind-the-scenes look and a new perspective on what it means to be a professional athlete. 

When comparing Ferrell's stats to that of his various teammates it just goes to show the work ethic, dedication and skill it takes of these athletes to reach the professional level.
