About the Role

Wheelchair Basketball Canada is seeking a dynamic, creative and detail-oriented Social Media and Marketing Coordinator to join the team for the Ottawa2026 Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, taking place in Ottawa from September 9–19, 2026. The role will execute marketing strategies and plans, create content for digital platforms including social media, newsletters and websites, drive audience engagement, and support sponsorship and ticket sales. Responsibilities include developing digital, social media, email, print and out-of-home campaigns; coordinating marketing timelines, deliverables and assets; creating and managing website, newsletter and social media content; implementing SEO and maintaining an editorial calendar; coordinating branding, promotional items, signage and merchandise; supporting community outreach, promotional events, sponsor activations and co-branded marketing; tracking campaign performance and recommending improvements; coordinating vendors, agencies and partners; managing marketing budgets, invoices and contracts; and supporting volunteer recruitment, student engagement and audience development. Requirements include a post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, journalism, sports management or a related field; 2–4 years of marketing and communications experience, preferably in sports, events or entertainment; proficiency with social media platforms and management tools; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Canva; experience with content creation, WordPress, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, SEO and digital advertising; strong English and French communication skills; project management, creativity, teamwork and analytical skills. This is a full-time fixed-term contract in Ottawa, initially virtual with the possibility of hybrid work in fall 2025. Salary is commensurate with experience and the start date is immediate.
