About Full Count

Milton Young, an aspiring professional baseball player, works hard on the family farm and on the diamond. His dedication and skill eventually pays off as he is scouted by Mountain University on a full scholarship. However, the decision to accept the offer isn't an easy one as Milton feels the pressure from his father to stay and help him take care of the farm. Eventually his father agrees to let Milton live out his dreams, and he signs with the team. 

Soon after joining the team Milton finds himself in a rift with the Mountains starting pitcher, Ryan, as Milton and his talent threaten to take his job. Shortly after Ryan would be found dead of an apparant suicide, leaving Milton feeling responsible for his death. Unfortunately tragedy would strike again as Milton's father passes away of a heart attack.With all the devastation going on in his life Milton makes the ignorant choice to drink and drive. This results in him getting into a severe car wreck and permanently injuring his pitching arm. With his life going down the drain and his dreams in baseball destroyed, he returns home to help on the farm. 

Back in his hometown, Milton meets another man down on his luck, David. David, a drifter looking for work, stops by the farm. Despite not being able to pay him, David won't take no for an answer and starts helping out on the farm. Through this Milton and David develop a close friendship leading Milton to lean on his faith in order to get through this tough part of his life. 

Full Count's Relation To Sport Business

Despite being classified as a sports movie, the film actually focuses more on Milton's life after his playing career is over. The start of the movie begins by Milton's transition from high school player to his college's starting pitcher.  As a member of the Mountain's baseball team his interaction with teammates although are only shown briefly, aren't the most positive. Milton finds himself nearly exchanging blows with Ryan, the team's previous starting pitcher. The players finally calm down once teammates intervene and separate them. Once his life comes apart at the seams Milton finds himself leaning on his faith and community for support. 

Why watch Full Count?

Heavily focused on religion and faith this movie may not be for everyone. Although it does depict how hard Milton trains to accomplish what he has, baseball isn't the focal point of the film. For someone who is a casual baseball fan or needs an uplifting story, this may be the movie for you. Furthermore, this movie would be a good option for someone with kids. Despite there being some darker scenes including drinking and death, the overall theme of the movie is quite light and has plenty of inspiring moments.
