About Golden Shoes

Christian Larou is a young soccer fan and player with dreams to make it big. However, his neighbour Frank, who sponsors the local team he's on, makes sure coach Dominic plays him as little as possible, if at all. One day, his army father goes MIA during a mission and his mother gets into a car accident that leaves her in the hospital. Having no other family, he's left in the care of Frank. Frank then takes Christian out for new shoes to play with but lets the employee at the store know to find him an old, cheap reused pair. A dirty old pair that was sent by mistake is found and given to Christian. These shoes start to make him the best player on the team. He gets around his opponents easily, becomes incredible at kicking and doesn't miss the net.

Noticing this, Frank takes every opportunity he gets to take the shoes away. It's also eventually made clear that Frank has put a lot of money into the team and threatens legal action for that money back if the coach keeps playing Christian. It's these obstacles that Christian must overcome if he wants to live his dream of going pro like his idol Cristiano Ronaldo. And with a scout coming around to look for new recruits to the junior's national team, he must prove that he has what it takes.

Golden Shoes's Relation To Sport Business

Golden Shoes shows us some youth soccer and the players in it. We see the struggle behind some parts of the team that include pressure from a parent. Frank has his own kids in the team, a team he sponsors. It's that pressure that makes coach Dominic listen to whatever Frank wants. Including leaving Christian on the bench most of the time. And after Christian gets his 'golden shoes' and is given his chance to shine, it's clear he needs to be on the field more. Something that upsets Frank who demands his money back within a month or he'll start legal action.

We also see the importance of scouting. Coach Dominic calls in a scout he knows to come and check out Christian. The scout is for the junior national team, which desperately needs new players to have a chance at a real tournament. Showing interest in Christian's success, he needs to attend more games to ensure he's the right fit for the national team. This a great way for young athletes to get discovered and paves the way for their bright futures.
