In the 4th installment of the series, Josh is off to his first year of college, leaving sports-loving golden retriever Buddy behind with little sister Andrea and the rest of the family. Wanting to fit in with her classmates, Andrea decides to join the baseball team. And in doing so, discovers that Buddy has quite the ability to play the game.

When everything seems to be going right, Buddy's puppies have started to disappear. The result of kidnappers using a raccoon to take them. These kidnappers turn out to be researchers wanting to find out if there's a special gene that makes them good at sports. It's up to Buddy to save his puppies and do well in his game.
