About Creed II

Now a World Heavyweight Champion, Adonis Creed has it all. He has the support of many fans across the globe, his coach and mentor Rocky Balboa, a new fiancé and a baby on the way. Life could not get any better. Everything changes when an all too familiar foe comes into his life. Ivan Drago, the former boxer who killed Creed's father wants a shot at redemption since losing to Balboa in a fight many years earlier. He decides to have his son Viktor challenge Creed in order to accomplish this. Creed is eager for redemption himself, immediately wanting to get into the ring. However, Balboa is not in favour of the fight which leads to a fallout between the two.

Needing a new coach before the fight, Creed picks the son of his father's coach. But with all the challenges going on in his life, he isn't fully prepared for the fight and comes in too soon which leads to a bad injury. It's clear he needs the proper guidance from his friend and mentor Rocky Balboa. Only with his help can he be ready to train and focus for their next matchup and to win this fight for his father.

Creed II's Relation To Sport Business

Creed II, just like its predecessor brings to us another look at the world of boxing. But it goes deeper than just the training and the fights. We learn about which battles to take on and which to let go. We learn about the importance of friendships and relationships and how to balance or prioritize them. Even about knowing there's never any shame in throwing in the towel when you need to. Adonis Creed demonstrates all of this with his actions throughout the film. He immediately wanted to fight Viktor Drago against the wishes of Rocky Balboa. After a dispute over this, he finds a new coach and rather than being fully prepared, takes the fight on early which causes a horrible injury. His relationship with Balboa isn't the only one that struggles. He ends up having issues with his new fiancé, and the 3 need to come together for him to continue to succeed.

With the rounds of boxing we see, we get a painful reminder of the fate of Creed's father Apollo. This brutal sport can have its consequences and both Creed and Drago could each have faced the deadly fate of Apollo in their respective boxing matches. Knowing when to throw the towel in is important as we see because some things are more important than pride and success.

Why watch Creed II?

For those who get attached to characters, sequels can be a great way to continue the story and see even more progression on their journeys. Creed II does a great job of continuing the story of Adonis Creed. We are taken through his successes and his struggles as he copes with the struggle of living up to his father's name. We also get a blast from the past, bringing in characters from the old Rocky movies, which further expands the Rocky/Creed franchise for fans new and old. On top of all this, movie star Michael B. Jordan excellently portrays this fictional boxer throughout both Creed films. It will at times leave you on the edge of your seat, with intense boxing matches that will make you forget for a moment that it's just a movie. Fans and non-fans of boxing are sure to enjoy this film, especially if you enjoyed Creed and the previous Rocky movies.
