About 7 Days in Hell

7 Days in Hell follows the longest Wimbledon match featuring Aaron Williams (Andy Samberg) and Charles Poole (Kit Harington). Aaron Williams is an American orphan who was adopted by Richard Williams, who just so happens to be the father of Venus and Serena Williams. Being raised in a talented tennis family leads Aaron to follow in his sister’s footsteps. In the 1996 Wimbledon finals Aaron’s serve hits a line judge who immediately dies on impact. Aaron then disappears to avoid the consequences of his actions. On the other hand, Charles Poole is a British former child prodigy who was forced into the sport by his domineering mother. During an interview Poole lets it slip that he once idolized Williams and believes he can beat him in a match. William catches wind of the comment and comes out of hiding to take Poole on in Wimbledon. This leads to the longest tennis match ever spanning over seven days.

7 Days in Hell's Relation To Sport Business

7 Days in Hell shows us a lot about professional sport. Ultimately it shows us how professional sport should never run. For starters there are multiple things that go wrong. On the second day of the seven day match it is revealed that Williams is under the influence of cocaine whereas Poole keeps receiving inappropriate phone calls from the Queen. On the fourth day two streakers run onto the court to which Williams attempts to seduce both, following that Poole is beaten in an elevator by the Queen. Despite some stock footage being shown in the beginning of the film and even a cameo by Serena Williams, this movie shows us how to not run any sport event.

Why watch 7 Days in Hell?

If you need a quick laugh or something easy to watch 7 Days in Hell would be the perfect addition to your list. Andy Samberg who plays Aaron William’s is well known for his comedy and outrageous movies and plays his role perfectly. In addition to Samberg other major stars include Kit Harington, Howie Mandel, Jon Hamm and tennis legend Serena Williams. If the long list of celebrities isn’t good enough for you the hilarious jokes should be. From the Queen of England to various streakers there are many hysterical moments. That being said the movie can be quite raunchy so it isn’t the best choice for young children. If you’re a tennis fan or sports fan in general 7 Days in Hell is a must watch!
