Professional sports have a profound impact on our economy and social and cultural fabric. So when thinking about work in sports, many look here because of its allure.

Professional sport has one defining characteristic. It involves an athlete or athletes being paid to perform a sport activity or skill(s). These can be team sports such as hockey, baseball, basketball, and football. Or they can be individual sports such as tennis, golf, figure skating, or skateboarding. Also, professional sport can be sport entertainment performances such as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
